Does anyone think 80s music, especially new wave is underrated and hated too much?

A lot of 80s music was crap (though it can be enjoyably crappy). Some of it is genius. You have to appreciate the way bands took primitive keyboard synthesizers and drum machines and crafted beautiful, catchy pop songs out of them.
