Are the 80′s back?

I’ve been looking around at some new music, and all I’ve found so far are pretty much 80′s throwbacks. Has anyone ever theard of the World/Inferno Friendship Society? They bill themselves as punk but look at them and listen to them and tell me that they do not look like they’ve come straight from 1985. New Wave is most definitely making a comeback. Look at all the bands that are in the studio right now: Siouxsie Sioux, the Cure, Simple Minds, and even David Byrne is writing a rock opera with Fatboy Slim.

Has anyone else noticed this? What do you think?

Nowadays Pop is blamed for destruction of true sence of music. So maybe it is good to search bands whole over the world to full those hole of sadness. Even if songs are in different language, climax may be unique…

Looking for bands of today that are “80′s sounding”?

I love modern day 80′s sounding music like The Mary Onettes or The Shout Out Louds or Rumskib. Does anyone know of more bands that sound like this and what cateogory I should search for? “new wave of the new wave” or “80′s retro” doesn’t work provide results except for typical music from the 80′s – i tried sites like last.fm.com where you can listen to bands “similar” but its only college sounding type indie music that they play… Does anyone suggest and “80′s sounding” bands of today?

I love new wave, synth pop and electronic music from the 80′s I love Madonna *not her current albums*, Simple Minds, Depeche Mode, and etc. I also don’t mind if they’re one hit wonders. Please don’t say Michael Jackson.

I am big into 80′s music (always have been) but I am really wanting to hear some new stuff. I have an XM radio, so I have found some new bands, but I am looking for others.

I really prefer New Wave and the hair bands…

there is a new wave coming out of vegas, which include bands that are the TRUE result of 80′s new wave! now I know that emo will die regardless, but in order for it to die there must be a killer! Will it be 80′s new wave reborn? or Jerry lee lewis?

No offense, but you can’t go around telling everyone that morrissey is the godfather of emo!
that’s offensive in so many ways.

interpreters_are_hot-I have nothing against homosexuals, (I have homosexual friends) but the fact of the matter is that there are alot of homosexuals in the emo trend.

What’s your favorite genre of music from the 80′s? What bands do you like?Mine are new wave and hair metal. Picking a favorite new wave band would be hard for me but my favorite hair metal band is Motley Crue. What about you?
