That’s not what I … That’s not what I was saying at all. As I said, a true fan of industrial knows it’s all about being experimental, and therefore wouldn’t care about Trent being a carbon copy of the older artists or not.
Youtube: a place for strawman arguments and bunched knickers ;D
Yes because only … Yes because only bands that all sound EXACTLY like Neubauten and TG are Industrial, despite the fact that part of being Industrial is being experimental with your electronics. Please dude.
You know, just … You know, just because NIN went mainstream doesn’t mean he ruined Industrial. NIN may not be AS Industrial as other groups, but he is still pretty Rivet. And if you want to talk about being *true* Rivet, Skinny Puppy isn’t pure Industrial either. TRUE ORIGINAL Industrial would be like TG and Neubauten. NIN, Puppy, and TG are all important figures in the Industrial scene. Reznor didn’t ruin anything.
I think they’re a … I think they’re a sort of bridge between pop and industrial. As in, NIN’s music is mostly pop, but once in a while Trent gets freaky with a synth and you get Down In It which to me sounds just like Cabaret Voltaire’s “Sensoria”. Both are great songs.
A true fan of … A true fan of industrial wouldn’t give two about Trent anyway though. Enjoy your Skuppy, let the kids have their NIN, let me have my Neubauten, and kindly pull the cog outta your ass.
Oh…. I know. You’re talking about that crappy band that was big in the early 90′s but can’t even fill a House Of Blues today. Al Jourgensen can blow me. Especially after all the he’s said about Trent.
I don’t really … I don’t really understand what you’re going for. Yeah in some regards NIN is industrial but not enough to be fully classified as it. It has varied far too much over the years to be rooted to one genre.
So…you’re staying … So…you’re staying its classifiable as industrial? The resistance to classifying nails as industrial is baffling to me. Trent himself has stated numerous times that he was just mixing Neubetan, Puppy and Bowie. Its popped up industrial. Resisting such classification smells of pretentiousness.
I hope you know … I hope you know that Trent himself doesn’t see his music as industrial. Industrial is just the closest classification you can get to, to define NIN.
NIN was sweet back … NIN was sweet back in the 90′s they arent that good since trent got out of rehab though, they have a few good tracks a some of the newer albums though.
