In 1990, Myke Hideous made an attempt to produce the first music video for his band The Empire Hideous. The song that was chosen for this visual project was “Mr. Barnum.” Initially, Myke was asked to create the video so that it could be featured on a gothic video compilation, produced by a goth magazine known as Propaganda. Those included on the video comp would be The Shroud (LA) and Requiem In White (NYC). Unfortunately, lacking funds to produce the video on time, it never made it to the compilation. On top of that, Myke had to file a law suite against an asshole named Jerome Lucheese (Long Island), for taking payment for editing the footage and not delivering a finished product. Needless to say, the footage was never returned and has since been lost. Nevertheless, this is the first Hideous music video that Myke produced. It only exists on a documentary entitled: To Build An Empire, by Mark Steiner. And with luck, that film will be re-released in late 2010. The “Mr. Barnum” video isn’t loaded with hi-fi effects. It’s shaky, unstable and glitchy at times. These problems are a result of crappy editing and insufficient funds to pay for a real editing job. You get what you pay for, and nobody paid for this video as you’ll see… Enjoy!
