If I love Gothic music can I start wearing it?

I’m in 8th grade, and I’ve been listening to industrial, metal, punk rock, Darkwave, symphonic metal, and Gothic Rock since I was 8 years old (thanks to my older brothers friends) I do have a small nose stud that I got in 7th grade, I love reading , horror movies, and I’m obsessed with the paranormal, and have always been drawn to morbidity. I am happy and hyper, and my mom bought me a whole bunch of abercrombie clothes in 6th grade, and have to keep them till they dont fit, which should be until a few months. So do you think when I am a bit older, it would acceptable for me to wear more gothic clothing.
I am not a angsty wannabe. It’s just I want to be able to express my love for music through my clothing. I know that sounds dumb, it is just because without listening to music I would probably just wither and die. Music is so important to me, and I don’t wanna dress like everyone else.
PS I did say when I was a bit OLDER, and no. I am not EMO.

if you dress like that, you’re going to look already dead. You doing drugs yet?
You better get out of that. Find something to fill that hole. You’re only gonna end up depressed and sad, and you’ll look like it too. Stay away from that culture. you’ll develop habits and friends that you will wish you’d never gotten or met in the end.

As long as you’re actually expressing yourself and not wearing the latest designs from Hot Topic.

As long as the choice of clothing doesn’t conflict with school dress codes, I would express myself with just a hint of make up and find a comfortable balance between gothic and the “norm”. Mix it up you never know you could be a trend setter. Enjoy being you and keep in mind your mom’s mom did the same thing with her. Be respectful and talk it through with your mom and you might find her more receptive to the style you desire. If all else fails the trends today will change for your children.
