What are some good Japanese metal bands?

Good being the keyword here.
Usually I’m not a big metal person. I’m big on industrial, punk, alternative and new-wave music, and many of my favorite bands are widely international. Recently I’ve been going through a Japan phase, and while I’ve always liked some Japanese music (Polysics and Yoshida Brothers come to mind), I never quite got into Japanese metal, or metal in general. The only “metal-ish” artists I like are Incubus, Down and the occasional SOAD. But then I found THIS…

(ignore the music video… it pisses me off lmao)
So erm… are there any other bands like that? I know very little about metal bands, but I really like how in this song the verses are screamy, but the chorus isn’t. It’s even full of English swears lmao!

If your into power metal, which has a clean sound and clean vocals, look for a band called Onmyouza. They’re good.

Loudness is an incredible japanese metal band, you might enjoy them
they have been around quite a while, since the early 1980′s, and were the first Japanese heavy metal act signed in the US – their most recent album, The Everlasting, was released last year

I’m usually not a big metal fan myself, but I’ve found a lot of awesome Japanese metal bands! (I really like the switching between screaming verses and “soft” choruses too!!) Check out “Zetsubou Billy” by Maximum the Hormone too if you haven’t!!…
